The saint is not a washed up, irresponsible person, unable to fulfill a role in life. Sanctity is the human being come to full maturity, the perfect man or woman (SP, Sept '54)
From Father Tom: Another way of saying this is: "the glory of God is Man, fullly alive." This however did not apply to Fr. Alberione who was sick in some way every day of his life. So each case has to be judged differently.
