The Voice of the Founder

"Lord,
that I see with your eyes,
That I speak with your tongue,
That I hear only through your ears,
That my hands be yours...
That I pray your prayers...
That I may be in YOU
and YOU in me..."

An Examination of Conscience...

I was reading my copy of The Magnificat Year of Mercy Companion when I came across the reading for September 28, 2016.  The whole article was very good, but I am only going to quote the last section which reminds me of the fact that Mother Mary always wants to help us...we only have to ask.  So we ask her to help us make a proper and thorough examination of conscience:

.--Show me where and how I worship idols of power, fame, possessions
--Show me where and how I seek my selfish desires, my advantage, my convenience.
--Show me where and how I long to control, to possess, to use others.
--Show me where and how my heart lusts after food, sex comfort.
--Show me where and how my mind judges boasts, condemns.
--Show me where and how I loathe I harm, I hate myself, my neighbors, and you, my God

If we want to win souls over, let us think of their bodies. The Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul bring people light and comfort for their souls as much as for their bodies. It is difficult to talk about the Eucharist to someone with an empty stomach (BM p. 329).

From Father Tom: An unusual statement...coming from Alberione. Very much out of character though we read that he always carried something to give to a poor person he might meet..

Father of Mercies...

Father of mercies,
hear the prayers of Your people.
Forgive our sins of indifference
and omission
toward our sisters and brothers in need.
Awaken in us the desire an the will to
lovingly fulfill our responsibilities
toward one another.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

What Difference Does it Make...?

On Thursday night, Dr. Campbell gave some homework during his lecture on Christian Kenosis, asking everyone to write a paragraph on the following:
-What difference does it make that I'm a Catholic?
I thought this would be a nice reflection/exercise. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the responses to this post if you desire. :)

ORDINARY WEEKDAY
LABOR DAY
1 Cor 5: 1-8
Ps 5: 5-7
Lk 6: 6-11

In His wisdom and love God allows us to undergo trials and difficulties to make us more holy. Keep moving forward. Make a little progress every day (SP Apr 1949).

From Father Tom: That is the constant challenge: "to make us more holy"--and not "to make us more discouraged"..
