June 21-July 1, 2013 With Blessed Father Alberione and With Father Tom

I'm sorry for posting so many days all at once, but I will not have access to my computer for about a week.  These are the thoughts for that time.

God bless,
Marlicia

Friday, June 21
ST ALOYSIUS GONZAGA
2 Cor 11: 18, 21-30
Mt 6: 19-23

The sign of sanctity will always be humility, for sanctity means seeking the glory of God; the proud person seeks his own glory (RSP, p. 320)

From Father Tom:  And so often we have to stop and ask: WHY am I doing this? Am I trying to do it better each time? Am I trying to make a good impression? Am I jealous of you who seem to be doing it much better—do I even question your motifs? Am I discouraged because nothing I do succeeds? Plenty of questions…and no easy answers!

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Bro Bernardo Blasi SSP (1968)—Fr. Anselmo Vico SSP (1983)—Fr. Aleandro Arlandi IJP (1988)—Vincenzo Inbrunnone HFI (2002)—Marie Halcomb (1984)

Saturday, June 22
ST PAULINUS OF NOLA, Bishop
John Fisher, Thomas Martyr
2 Cor 12: 1-10
Mt 6: 24-34

Ask for sanctity, the grace to do the will of God. Let this be the central request of every prayer (RSP p. 135).

From Father Tom:  What can I add to this? It could not be more relevant. EVERYTHING done according to the will of God is good.  NOTHING outside that will is useful, even if not bad. Do you examine yourself on this point? Do I? Let’s see…

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Cleric Salvatore Murabito SSP (1936)—Fr. Federico Muzzarelli SSP (1956)—Fr. Giulioi Molinari SSP (1965)—Fr. Michele Cazzulo SSP (1985)—Sr. M. Pierina Petrucci PD (1988)—Sr. Gioacchina Pasqualetti FSP (1980)—Fr. Vincenzo Siletti SSP (2000)

Sunday, June 23
12th Sunday in ordinary time
Zac 12: 10-11, 13:1
Gal 3: 26-29
Lk 9: 18-24

Prayer is the breath of supernatural life. If there is no prayer, the soul dies spiritually (BM 502)

From Father Tom:  When you stop breathing…you die. That’s automatic. Let’s try and develop an automatic prayer life: invocations during work, time in church according to each one’s possibilities.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Fr. Domenico Sparacio SSP (2001—Sr. Luisa Zambotti FSP (2007)

Monday, June 24
NATIVITY OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
Is 49, 1-6
Acts 13: 22-26
Lk 1: 57-60

The name “John” means “the Lord is gracious.” (BM 676).

From Father Tom:  Didn’t know this before (my authority is Fr. Alberione!) Seems sad that this word is used in so many senses which do little to honor the gracious Lord.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Sr. M. Lorenzina Layog FSP (1991)—Sr. Ginetta Pisola SGBP (1997)—Fr. Ottavio Cauli IJP (2002)—Paola Ninivaggi IAM (2009)

Tuesday, June 25
OF THE DAY
Gen 13: 2-18
Mt 7: 6-14

Let us recite the “our Father” in the morning, often during the day and when we find ourselves in some difficulty (RSP 111)

From Father Tom:  Interesting that final line. Must say I never thought of this…the Founder can still teach me a thing or two!

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Sr. Ancilla Viola FSP (1998) –Sr. Erminia Richelmi FSP (2002)—Sr. M. Bernardetta D’Angelo PD (2002)—Fr. Enea Spinosa IJP (2007)—Julio Zicari HFI (2008)—Leda Di Tommaso HFI (2009)

Wednesday, June 26
OF THE DAY
Gen 15: 1-12
Mt 7: 15-20

God is of such majesty that before Him all the earth is as if it didn’t exist (BM 113).

From Father Tom:  And we human beings are less still—negatives! But…God became one of us “negatives”…and died a terrible death to save us. If that were a story in a magazine…who would believe it?

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Fr. Antonio Anania IJP (1988)—Sr.M. Aniola Pecorelli PD (1994)—Carmelo Caramazza HFI (2006)—Sr. Hilda Eva Breve SG (2007)—Concetta Arcione HFI (2009)—Bro Luigi Montanaro SSP (2010)—Ralph Dorsey Johnson (1991)

Thursday, June 27
OF THE DAY
St. Cyril of Alexandria, Bishop and Doctor
Gen 16: 1-16
Mt 7: 21-29

Jesus does not accept just any person who wants to follow Him. He needs souls ready for any sacrifice (UPS 1: 216)

From Father Tom:  how well we all know this! If all those who had joined us, not to talk of those who made inquiries had continued…but, somehow, they lacked some essential. May they rest in peace.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Sr. Severina Pellerino FSP (1981)—Sr. Rosa Capozzoli FSP (1997)—Fr. Angelo Castellotto SSP (2006)—Fr. Felipe Del Valle SSP (2010)

Friday, June 28
ST IRENAEUS, Bishop, Martyr
Gen 17: 1-22
Mt 8: 1-4

The person who impedes the work of the Church, the Christian education of the young and the spread of the Gospel is opposing the work of Jesus Christ (BM 686).

From Father Tom:  When the Founder wrote, he probably had in mind the Communists, very strong in Italy of his day. Now he would have to think of our so-called Christians and especially those in government.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Sr. M. Teresina Dadone PD (1989)—Sr. M. Rachele Pasini FSP (1994)—Sr. M. Celeste Di Girolamo FSP (2=1994)—Sr. M. Speranza Valenzuela FSP (1997)—Sr. Sira Borghetti FSP (2001)—Bro Matteo Toffani SSP (2003)

Saturday, June 29
SS PETER AND PAUL, APOSTLES
Acts 12: 1-11
2 Tm 4: 6-8
Mt 16: 13-19

Until the end of time, the successor of Peter will declare what must be believed and what is the faith of the Church (BM 679).

From Father Tom:  And this, despite a number of “successors” who were so in terms of being next in line, but not so in terms of their personal behavior. In spite of this human weakness, no Pope ever taught heresy.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Sr. Candida M. Taratglione FSP (1972)—Maria Adelaide Antonion IAM (1973)—Sr. M. Purissima Accenas FSO (1981)—Fr. Jesus Fuente SSP (1986)—Fr. Patrick Pennisi (1990)—Vera Stracciati HFI (1991)—Sr. M. Giuseppina Iezzoni FSO (1998)—Sr. M. Giovannina Gramaglia PD (2009)—Sr. M. Immaculada Garcia PD (2010)—Luigi Genova HFI (2010)

Let us pray to study St. Paul and imitate him faithfully in his life, wisdom and apostolate.

From Father Tom:  Great idea—and yesterday was the time to start! Like the Master, Paul’s life and work will never be fully studied nor its depths fully explored.

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Vitina Prato HFI (2002)--Carmela Mangiere (1989)

Monday, July 1
OF THE DAY
Blessed Junipero Serra, Priest
First Monday of the month—St. Paul
Gn 18: 16-33
Mt 8: 18-22

The Three Divine Persons were involved with the work of Creation and we see them reflected in human beings: the Father in the human will, the Son in the human mind and the Holy Spirit in our emotions. We are the imjage of the Trinity (UPS 149).

From Father Tom:  This surely is an inspiration to live better in spite of our human weakness: we are the representatives on earth of Almighty God!

Please Pray for Our Deceased: Msgy. Francesco Fasola IJP (1988)—Sr. M. Luigina Della Penna PD (1998)—Fr. Alessio Barbero SSP (2006)—Fr. Miguel Vido SSP (2006)—Sr. Rosina Sega FSP (2008)—Sr. Assunta Maria Lopez FSP (2011)—Sr. M. Vincenzina Guion FSP (2011)—David Hinchcliffe—Fr. Malahey (no years).
