The heart is a precious thing: don't put it in jeopardy, don't allow it to be at the mercy of every heart beat, every event (FSP, 425).
Most of us have probably gone beyond the stage of rapid heart beats in the romantic sense, but that leaves hardened hearts which can develop quite stealthily and do immense damage while we are correcting other less serious defects.
