In the Religious Life a penitent heart is fundamental and, should we forget this, now is the time to be convinced of it (VMC 794).

Fr. Tom: Correct, but not quite far-reaching enough.  All of us need a penitent heart to keep us in humility, to avoid words and gestures of superiority to others, to avoid repeating sins in which our pride played a major part.
