The joy of the spirit is reflected in all the aspects of being human: the mind oriented to truth, the will to what is good, the feelings to what is beautiful and joyful (Vita Pastorale, Nov 1952).

FROM FATHER TOM: This can be true even in the midst of somewhat severe  physical suffering; indeed, it may be the only support we have to counteract pain.
