Mary Queen of Apostles

Mary Queen of the Apostles

~From the Voice of the Founder (July-September 2020)

There are many prayers composed by the Founder to honor Mary, Queen of Apostles. Among these is the Chaplet to the Queen of the Apostles, centered around five moments brimming with love and apostolic sensitivity, which suggest the mysteries of a rosary and is also called:

“the Queen of the Apostles Rosary”

1st mystery:-- The annunciation and Jesus’ birth: Most loving Queen of heaven and of earth…, I honor and praise you for your unique privilege. You pleased God in your humility, faith, and virginity, and He granted you the privilege of becoming the great Mother of the Divine Savior, our Master, true Light of the world, infinite Wisdom, Source of all truth and first Apostle of truth.

2nd mystery:-- Jesus’ Passion and Death: Mary, Queen of all the angels…, remember that painful and solemn moment in which the dying Jesus from the cross gave you John as your son, and in him, all humanity and especially all the apostles.

3rd mystery:-- The coming of the Holy Spirit at the Cenacle: Virgin most pure…, rejoice for the days in which you were Teacher, Comforter and Mother of the apostles in the Cenacle to invoke and receive the Divine Paraclete, the Spirit with the seven gifts, Love of the Father and of the Son, Transformer of the apostles.

4th mystery:-- Mary’s Assumption: Our tender Mother Mary…, I recall the blessed moment in which you left the earth to fly to the loving embrace of Jesus. It was the omnipotent favor of God which assumed and glorified you in body and soul.

5th mystery:--Crowning of the Virgin Mary: Mary, Star of the Sea, our life and Queen of peace…, how great and how wonderful was the day on which the august Trinity crowned you Queen of heaven and earth, dispenser of all graces, our most lovable Mother.

Mary, Queen of the Apostles…Pray for us.

HAIL HOLY QUEEN

HAIL HOLY QUEEN

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you we cry, the children of Eve;
to you we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this land of exile.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy toward us;
lead us home at last
and show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus:
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Consecration of the Family to Mary

CONSECRATION OF THE FAMILY TO MARY

Come, O Mary, enter and dwell in this house, which we offer and consecrate to you. You are welcome: we receive you with joy as your children. We are unworthy, but you are so good that you willingly establish your dwelling among your weakest children. We receive you with the love with which John took you into his home after the death of your Son, Jesus, Distribute to each of us the spiritual graces that are most needed, as you brought them to the house of Zechariah.

Grant the material graces, just as you obtained for the bride and groom at Cana the transformation of the water into wine. Keep us far from sin. Be light, joy, and sanctification, as you were in the family of Nazareth. Be our Mother, Teacher and Queen. Increase in us faith, hope and charity. Infuse in us the spirit of prayer.

May Jesus, Way, Truth and Life always dwell here! Raise up vocations among our loved ones. Grant that all the members of this family may one day be reunited in heaven. Amen

The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

Some things to think about on this Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God (and always)

"In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal."

--Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Father and Doctor of the Church

O sinner, be not discouraged, but have recourse to Mary in all you necessities. Call her to your assistance, for such is the divine Will that she should help in every kind of necessity.

Mary, Mother of Grace

MARY, MOTHER OF GRACE
Progress in virtue and merits... requires a continual flow of graces.
It means replacing human thoughts with Christian principles and reasoning.
It means being able to say with truth: “I live now not with my own life but with the life of Christ who lives in me” (Gal 2:20).
All this is the work of Mary. She formed Jesus Christ, considered as a physical human being; she received then the vocation and the grace to form Jesus Christ, considered as the Mystical Body.

Marian Song of the Day
TODAY'S SONG
O Be Glad My Soul Rejoice is an adaptation of Mary's own song of praise, the Magnificat, from the 2-CD set Handmaiden of the Lord by the Daughters of St Paul choir.
TODAY'S PRAYER
MARY, LADY OF FATIMA, MOTHER OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, have pity on your scattered children, on so many who are still
straying like sheep without a shepherd. Save the innocent, convert sinners, strengthen the weak, sustain the wavering, comfort the troubled, assist the sorrowful, form many saints, give us apostles and good pastors.
You know, Mother, what a valley of tears we live in, how we walk in the midst of so many enemies, what fragile clay we are made of. Turn your merciful gaze toward us. May you lead us to Jesus Way and Truth, and Life, to the eternal Shepherd of all, to the joy of heaven.
Queen of Angels, Queen of Patriarchs, Queen of Prophets, pray for us!
Today is the fifth day of the novena in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal.

The Immaculate Conception

I found this image on the internet. It is not mine, but I will give credit to the artist if he or she comes forward.

December 8 - The Immaculate Conception

We have had this Feast twice already and have reflected on the connection between the sin of Eve and the special divine blessing conferred on Our Lady. She was preserved from all "Original sin" from the first instant of her conception and was thus conceived in that state of justice and holiness which is the effect of divine friendship and, as a result, was withdrawn from the influence of Satan and subjection to the law of concupiscence. However, like all human beings, she is redeemed by the merits of her Son, not freeing her from the stain of sin but preventing her from contracting it.

These concepts are included in the First Reading describing the sin of Adam and Eve followed by the Responsorial Psalm, not something sorrowful but filled with joy that this sin has resulted not in disaster but in a further display of God's goodness: instead of (as we might be tempted to do) wiping out our First Parents He confirms them in their original vocation and then - through the mediation of Our Blessed Lady - Himself pays for their sin and ours!

No wonder that Paul in the Second Reading bursts into an exuberant hymn of gratitude for this unspeakable gift which we can appreciate only with difficulty.

The Gospel tells a well-known story highlighting the sublime perfection and maturity of the great Lady who made all this possible.

Pray for us, 0 holy Mother of God,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

"All honor to you, Mary!
Today

raised above the angels! "

August 15 - Assumption of the B.V.M.

We know nothing of how the Virgin's earthly life ended but the event has been celebrated in different ways from the early days of the Church and originally it had such names as Dormitio (= falling asleep), Natale (= birthday) or Transitio (= passing). In the middle of the fifth century the Feast appears in the liturgical books of that period and it persisted up to 1950 when it was honored with a dogmatic definition by Pope Pius XII.(I vividly recall actually listening with the other seminarians on the radio in Alba while the Holy Father spoke).

The First Reading is not actually talking about Our Lady - and indeed the references to a woman in childbirth are not exactly what we think of when we speak about this Feast. The quotation from the Book of Revelation by John the Evangelist referred originally to the Woman, the bride of God who brings forth the Messiah and this is the true Israel, the Chosen People from whom the Lord was born.. In this sense, therefore, there is a connection because the Lord was also born of Mary.

The is somewhat on the same lines but more understandable: the quasi-infinite merits and spiritual beauty of Mary assumed into heaven are seen as being totally pleasing to God.

The Second Reading is easier to understand but it refers to Christ, not Our Lady, though of course she is the reason we have him. And so she has had an indispensable role in the great story of Redemption when all of us will "be brought to life in Christ." St. Paul specifies: " Christ as the first fruits and then after the coming of Christ, all those who belong to him." Clearly, Mary will take the lead in that great procession of men and women who have lived well on earth and now, after the Resurrection, will live forever in eternity (probably,in my understanding, on the earth we have today but of course in vastly different conditions which we cannot even guess).

The Gospel is, the well-known one, highlighting the joy and exultation of a young Nazareth teenager who has heard the most stunning announcement ever made to human being but who has reacted with remarkable maturity, clear sign of her special privilege of immunity form all defects. It is not difficult to understand that this extraordinary young lady, after living perfectly an ordinary mother's life which then ended in a grim tragedy as she had to stand by her crucified Son, was supremely worthy of being assumed into heaven.

Blessed Father Alberione on Mary

"Blessed James Alberione suggested directing the words of Barak and Deborah to Mary:

Mary, if you come with me, I will go; if you do not come with me, I will not go. I will go to children, youth, and parish work...if you accompany me, Mary; otherwise, I do not feel like going alone. Mary, cover me with your mantle; fill me with faith and courage; put the words on my lips...So then, Mary will answer: 'I will come with you: ibo quidem tecum.'"
