The Devil's Brew???

I'm not, and never have been a big fan of coffee (I'm a tea drinker.), but this little bit of humor, courtesy of the Catholic
Company and it's new coffee line, made me smile on this gray and snowy/slushy day.  I thought I'd share. :)

Did you know that Catholics
have a long history with coffee?

It doesn't go all the way back to St. Joseph,
but it does go back hundreds of years.

It was called "the devil's brew" until
Pope Clement VIII declared
in the 16th century...

"This devil's drink is delicious.
We should cheat the devil
by baptising it."
After he gave it his blessing, coffee
became a popular drink for many to enjoy.

Holy Water

Reflection/Prayer:  Make devout use of holy water. Dip your finger into the holy water and say:

“By this holy water and by Your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins, O Lord, bless my family, have mercy on the dying, and relieve the souls in purgatory,” and then make the Sign of the Cross.

`Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.  May they rest in peace. Amen

Prayer for the Family

Prayer for the Family

O God, Who has given us in the Holy Family of Nazareth a perfect model of family life lived in faith and in obedience to Your will, we thank You for our family. Grant us the strength to remain united in life, in generosity and in the joy of living together. Help us in mission of handing on the faith we received from our parents.

Open our hearts to our children, so that the gift of faith they received in Baptism may grow in them. Strengthen the faith of our older children, so that they may grow in the knowledge of Jesus. Increase love and fidelity in all couples, and especially in times of suffering and difficulty. Grant Your grace and blessing to all the world’s families and bless especially our Holy Father N. with wisdom and strength. United with Joseph and Mary, we ask you to grant us these blessings through Jesus Christ, Your Son.
