His desire to glorify His Father and to save us, guides Jesus Christ in all His actions from His infancy. The Son of God became human to offer Himself as a victim of peace and love (BM p. 290).

From Father Tom:  This was also a fundamental element of the old-style Religious life: victimhood like Christ's. It never worked properly, of course, because the "victims" are neither numerous nor esteemed.
