It is necessary to dominate our thoughts. Sin first of all depends on the mind. Merit and good work first of all depends on the mind. What we think sooner or later will become action (RSP p. 339)

From Father Tom:  This, however, is not easy. St. Paul had a special vocation, ours is more banal. So we keep in touch with the Lord as best we can and throw ourselves on His mercy for our many offenses, shortcomings and negligence.
