TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK
Is 49: 1-6
Ps 71: 1-6, 15-17
Jn 13: 21-33, 36-38
I meditate on the Gospel of Saint John: "The light shines in the darkness (it is Jesus) and the darkness (the world) did not comprehend it." (Jn 1: 5). A great battle is being fought...And the darkness succeeds in shielding somewhat the light in an apparent victory (BM, p. 542).

FROM FATHER TOM: This is not just a Gospel extract, but equally the story of each of us(e)--a "great battle" of which we are largely ignorant (just as our bodies function admirable without our awareness).
