Many have wanted to reform the Church without first reforming themselves. They had neither mission or virtue nor true piety (UPSI, 516).

FROM FATHER TOM: Actually, if they had in fact reformed, they might have perceived that the Church was already on the right lines and this would (have) avoided much pain and destruction.
