The apostle of Jesus Christ never seeks himself. Souls are his greatest profit. He serves them without making calculations (BM 274).
From Father Tom: Including, let it be noted, calculations about how well he is serving them! We talk about serving God and souls and we mean it, but it is hard to do this well--self-love always creeps in.
