OF THE DAY
1 Jn 4: 7-10
Mk 6: 34-44
Compassion is the first movement of a good heart: pain touches it and is moved by it and bends to alleviate it (BM p. 99).
From Father Tom: Compassion is from "cum" and "patire". Cum" is Latin for "with" and "patire" is Latin for "suffer" so a compassion is really more than "feeling" but involves "suffering with" someone.
