ORDINARY WEEKDAY
Jer 18: 1-6
Ps 146: 1-6
Mt 13: 47-53
When God finds a soul humble and docile to His will like Mary most holy, He makes use of that soul to accomplish His plans of love and wisdom. But the soul has to be docile, like the brush in the hands of the painter, or like a rag in the hands of a housewife (UPS I, 486).
From Father Tom: This example probably applies more to the life in a convent or a monastery than it does to everyday life: the former situation does not necessarily involve loss in doing somewhat blindly what we are told to do. However, in secular life we have to be more defensive and especially where others are involved.
