An obstacle to simplicity is envy, which is greatly dangerous. Another impediment is pride (FSP 41).
From Father Tom: Envy...the first sin which ruined the first Divine plan. Or so most people might think. However, others point out that if there had been no Fall, we would never have known that God loves us enough to die for us.
