When you talk the language of charity, when charity is not only word, but in material help, you have found the way of the spirit. (DA 211)
Of course charity can also be unacceptable in the short term--when we were chastised by our parents, for example. And so let's hear what is said and follow IT--avoiding judgment on the speaker.
