The first spiritual directors, the holy Founders of Religious Orders, withdrew in silence to listen to the voice of the Lord who spoke. Silence is a great means of sanctification (FSP 31, p 89)

From Father Tom: As I often reflect: at the end of the day have we said even one thing with the minimum of words and the maximum of thinking of what we are saying? Personally, my answer is always in the negative.
