The strength of one's convictions is extremely important because sooner or later we meet trials and discouragements and have to show what we believe--or don't believe (FSP 118).
This comment applies especially to the years after Perpetual Profession when the various goals have been reached and we are STILL not perfect or eve close! Was it all in vain? Of course not. But if you rest on your oars now...don't be surprised if you drift!
