Preparation for death can be varied but one good way is to accept everything contrary to our likes in penance for our sins (FSP 270).
This program may sound impossible: when did we ever accept EVERYTHING contrary to our likes? True, but let's distinguish between the initial repugnance which we cannot control and our subsequent behavior. If we said: "Thank you, Jesus," after or first involuntary reaction...we are preparing well!
