The Lord gives with joy. It satisfies a need of His being. Goodness by its nature spreads out (BM 635).
From Father Tom: It would be great if we could "give with joy". But that's for the Lord and perhaps a few blessed human beings. The rest of us will learn to give bu an act of the will -- which is actually more meritorious.
