Let our little consolations remind us of eternal joy and let our little pains be offered to merit heaven (BM 600).

From Father Tom: Little pains? Well, maybe, but in the context of our limitations they often appear anything but little.  But..the come to an end. The joys of eternity last forever and (my own view) are constantly changing--otherwise, even in eternity we'd get bored!
