Lack of meditation is the reason so many souls stray and have not the right spirit (FSP 31, pp 92-93).

From Father Tom: The reference here may not be merely that some of us do not take time to reflect on where we are going and how to get there, where we are going and how to get there, but also that our temperament is too lazy or fickle to bother about anything but immediate gratification. Time is passing and we need to get our situation right as soon as possible.
