Paulines are not called to be leaders in the latest thinking on theology or morality and this is so as to avoid giving doubtful teaching. Let us leave aside the possibles and the probables and give what is useful for ordinary people (VMC 406).
And we could apply this to ourselves by noting that we are not called to practice the latest devotions but rather to concentrate on Scripture and our Pauline spirituality.
