The Council has specified, clarified and deepened the teaching of the Church and its pastoral activity in all its forms and environments, mobilizing all the forces she has at her disposal to save and sanctify people by bringing grace and action in the modern world (SP Dec 1965)

From Father Tom: That was  the intent and to some extent the hopes of the Council were realized, but the practices of nineteen hundred years could not be so quickly reversed and there will be confusion in the ranks for a long time to come.
