The Beatitudes announced by Jesus make us consider the great peace of virtuous souls on earth: peace that is a prelude to eternal happiness in Paradise (BM p. 704).
From Father Tom: Effectively they lead us to live on earth, to the extent possible, in our material conditions as we will live in Paradise.
