Jesus sanctified family life with ineffable virtues and especially obedience, docile and loving submission to Mary and Joseph (BM 294).

From Father Tom: The key words here are "docile" and "loving." Parents--no matter how careless--have a special grace of guidance, just as in Religious Life; a defective Superior still represents the will of God in that time and place.
