Vocation comes from God, not from men, not even from the priest; and much less from the individual himself (SP 1965).

From Father Tom:  Vocation comes from God--every vocation. The Founder doubtless has religious vocations in mind but all of us are "called" ("vocare" in Latin=call) to serve the Lord as He wishes and -- something entirely undeserved--to receive the reward of being united to Him forever. How is it that we are not more excited just by being alive?
