THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Mt 4: 12-23
Spiritual direction is part of pastoral (=for spiritual life) ministry and consists in an imitation of the Master's style: "Teach them to do what I commanded." (Mt 28:20) We lead others progressively from the basics to whatever point they are able to reach.
A good word here is "progressively" -- not forcefully, but yet with a gentle pressure toward greater good. The Master has a cut-off point of holiness for everyone but the majority--even the Saints--don't reach it.
